G &L music stands for Gerry and Laura or Laura and Gerry depending on which side of the family you are on:).  We have many years of performing in public and we are anxious to bring our twist on many classics and genres.  The music you will experience will feature live singing, keyboard playing with saxophones and flutes thrown in for good measure.  The music we perform are songs we loved growing up and want to perform for you.  We have a very fun segment in our family performances that involves the audience.  This involvement needs to be seen and heard.  We’ll keep it our little secret for now:).

.

Laura has recently completed many years as a music educator in the Northland Pines School District.  She has taught elementary, middle, and high school groups.  An incredible singer, keyboardist, and instrumentalist Laura brings her amazing talent and work ethic to this new group. Laura’s passion includes authoring a children’s book and supporting her faith with music.

Summer of 1998 playing backup to Kenny Rogers at “The Hodag Festival” in Rhinelander.

Gerry has recorded with 7 independent record labels.  His credentials include performing with the Oshkosh Symphony, Miss Wisconsin Pageant Band, Al Johnson of the Count Basie band, Billy Aukstik (tonight show trumpeter), on the Miller stage at Summerfest (opening for Keanu Reeves Band, Dog Star, on July 4th, 2001) in Milwaukee with Joe Bucher and The Top Raiders,  and performing on stage with Country’s very own Kenny Rogers.  Gerry has recorded his original music and has submitted to and been forwarded to three separate venues via Taxi.com (“Munchkin Studios” a “Major Music Superviser” and “Monkey Wings” records). Gerry is a founding member of “G and L” music and “Flying Blind”.  He continues to write, arrange and perform with many local groups.  Gerry (Mr. Plank) is the retired director of bands at Northland Pines High School in Eagle River. Gerry just finished up the 2023/2024 school year as the unofficial band director in the Crandon Public schools and is the videographer for Christ Lutheran in Eagle River, Wisconsin. He supports the Christ Lutheran church playing flute, clarinet, soprano, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone, and trumpet.

What a joy performing with Billy Aukstik! Terrific player and nice guy!

Our brand new sign for the band (don’t worry, we are getting the wrinkles out slowly). Plus, we recently were extremely blessed to be the opening group for the first Headwaters Council for the Performing Arts this season (2024/2025). We played out in the entrance area to the theatre prior to the main act.

Betty Joe Held stated “You guys (Gerry and Laura) were so good! Great harmonies and instrumentalists!”
